Manufacturing Rebounds With 225,000 Job Gain

U.S. manufacturing added 225,000 jobs in May as some workers returned to work after earlier plant closings caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Makers of durable goods posted an increase of 119,000 jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Major job gainers included motorized vehicles and parts. But manufacturing jobs are still far below levels in May 2019.
