3D Printing Is Cleared for Takeoff in Aerospace

Aerospace is looking to 3D printing to boost efficiency and reduce waste. The industry was an early, enthusiastic adopter of additive manufacturing. Industry 3D printing efforts continue to progress. “You’ve got the Airbuses of the world telling their story,” said Todd Grimm, president of T.A. Grimm & Associates, Edgewood, Ky., an additive manufacturing consulting firm. “It gave us a nudge, a push. It validated, which allowed us to take it more seriously for more demanding applications. Aerospace has a strong appetite for the capabilities of additive.”
