After 737 Max, Boeing Separates CEO, Chairman Positions

After 737 Max, Boeing Separates CEO, Chairman Positions

Boeing Co.’s 737 Max crisis just had one impact on the aircraft maker — its board opted to separate the jobs of chief executive officer and chairman. The company said CEO Dennis Muilenburg no longer is chairman of the board. Instead, its lead independent director, David L. Calhoun, is now non-executive chairman. The action occurs as Boeing tries to return the 737 Max, one of its most important aircraft, back into service. The plane was grounded following two crashes that killed 346 people.

TURNING INDUSTRIAL WASTE INTO SUSTAINABLE REVENUE

METALBRIK hydraulic briquetting presses from CPM Di Più help companies maximize the usability of metal scraps. The equipment is reliably strong, efficient, and capable of compacting large quantities of metal swarf around the clock—with no unexpected problems or unscheduled downtime. The high pressure generated in the METALBRIK compression chamber (from 2,000 to 4,500 kg/cm²) consistently produces high-quality, high-density briquettes. Additionally, METALBRIK presses remove cutting fluids and create briquettes that can often go directly into smelting furnaces, creating an economic benefit every step of the way.

MSC simulation technology

Increase the simulation accuracy of reinforced materials

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is used to simulate reinforced thermoplastics and continuous fiber composites but frequently yields inaccurate results. Inaccuracy is due to 1) Reinforced materials require anisotropic material models, but most FEA solutions are limited to isotropic models. 2) The stiffness varies throughout the reinforced material, whereas, traditional FEA models uniform stiffness. MSC simulation technology addresses both limitations, enabling engineers and designers with accurate virtual prototypes.
