Machine Tool Orders Surge in September

Machine tool orders surged in September, AMT -- The Association for Manufacturing Technology said. Orders gained 26 percent compared with August. AMT said the results reflected a stronger economy for manufacturing. Orders were still 3.2 percent lower from September 2019. AMT said some weak spots remain for machine tool demand.

Manufacturing Adds 38,000 Jobs in October


U.S. manufacturing boosted employment by 38,000 jobs in October, with a majority coming from durable goods, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. Sectors that added jobs included fabricated metal products and machinery. However, employment in manufacturing remains below levels in February, just before the COVID-19 coronavirus began to hammer the economy.

3D Systems to Sell Cimatron, GibbsCAM


3D Systems said it agreed to sell Cimatron Ltd. and its related subsidiaries, which operate the Cimatron integrated CAD/CAM software and GibbsCAM CNC programming software businesses, to Battery Ventures, a technology-focused investment firm for a purchase price of $65 million.
