Ford Motor Suspends Dividend for First Time in Eight Years


Ford Motor Co. suspended its dividend to help conserve cash after shutting down plants because of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Ford last stopped paying a dividend from September 2006 until March 2012, a period it was cutting jobs and closing plants as well as coping with a major recession. Ford also said it's borrowing more than $15 billion against two credit lines because of the plant shutdowns.

Ford to Join With 3M, GE, UAW to Boost Output of Ventilators, Respirators


Ford Motor Co. said it's joining forces with 3M and GE Healthcare to boost production of medical equipment, including ventilators and respirators. The equipment is intended for first responders and patients fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19). Ford also plans to assemble more than 100,000 face shields per week and leverage its in-house 3D printing capability to produce components for use in personal protective equipment.

The figure includes a $1.6 billion yearly revenue opportunity from AM hardware sales. The report also says AM will be increasingly adopted as manufacturers look to digitize their supply chains.
