Exactly how do you go about bringing more people of color into management? Five experts outline practical strategies.
All the tech in the world cannot erase the debilitating skills gap in manufacturing. An obvious solution is to set up a bigger tent—to markedly increase the number of people of color in manufacturing management.
To help address this issue, Smart Manufacturing magazine is bringing five experts together to strategize. Among their many detailed suggestions:
- To help existing racially diverse employees, consider auditing the workplace for bias.
- If you yourself are a racially diverse employee, get a couple of mentors.
- If you are a recruiter, make sure you include people of color on recruiting and selection panels.
- If you are thinking about the future, increase efforts to promote STEM careers to black and brown children and foster mutually beneficial relationships in their communities.
